Dominant fixed-line operator Slovak Telecom (ST) has announced that it has taken legal steps against mobile operators Orange and EuroTel to push them to reduce the interconnection fees that they charge ST for calling to mobile networks.
ST has requested the Telecommunications Office to check whether high mobile operator fees are economically justified. It also has requested the Anti-trust Office to examine whether the mobile operators are abusing their position on the market.
ST has been warning that the mobile operators are charging the company substantially higher fees for calling to mobile networks than for calling to a fixed-line network.
The daily SME has information that ST is charging the mobile operators Sk1.20 (€0.03) per minute, while the interconnection tariffs of the mobile operators are between Sk5 (€0.12) and Sk6 (€0.14).
