JAPANESE carmaker Daihatsu wants to build a new plant in Europe. The possible candidates to land the investment are Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovenia and Turkey, SME wrote.
Slovak foreign investment agency SARIO, as well as the Czech FDI agency CzechInvest, have refused to comment on whether talks with Daihatsu are being held.
According to SME, the new plant should produce light commercial vehicles or cheap mini-cars destined for the eastern European and Indian markets.
Daihatsu's director for Turkey, Ali Haydar Bozkurt, says the company is still holding talks, and that all the countries are being considered equally.
