Slovakia more economically competitive

SlOVAKIA's competitiveness improved this year. According to a study published by the World Economic Forum (WEF), entitled Global Competitiveness Report, out of 117 countries evaluated Slovakia ranked 41st, up two places on 2004, Hospodárske noviny wrote.

Compared to its neighbours, Slovakia ranked lower than the Czech Republic, which was 38th, and Hungary, which ranked 39th. However, Poland was behind Slovakia, in 51st place.

According to Róbert Kičina from the Slovak business alliance PAS, which is the partner organization of the WEF, the improvement in Slovakia's competitiveness reflects cabinet reforms. Analysts also see the stable macroeconomic environment as one of the advantages of the Slovak economy.
