Slovakia objects to registration of Niva blue cheese as Czech product

Slovakia has lodged an objection to a Czech application for the registration of the Southern Czech ‘Niva’ blue cheese as a product with protected geographical indication, the EU Agriculture Commissioner's spokesman Michael Mann said on May 22. The EU Commission will review Slovakia's objection, and if it is upheld, the two countries will have six months to reach an agreement, the TASR newswire wrote. Failing that, a decision will be made in Brussels. TASR
