Slovakia's armed forces were put through their paces when they participated in the annual NATO international crisis management exercise (CMX) from October 19 to 26, the army reported on its website on Thursday, October 27. The exercise, which took place in northern Europe, was based on a fictitious scenario that involved NATO's collective defences being invoked by an attack on one of the allied countries.
Also put to the test during the exercise was the use of the NATO Response Force (NRF) as well as co-operation with international organisations, the TASR newswire wrote. Slovakia's participation at CMX was co-ordinated by Defence Minister Ľubomír Galko and Lieutenant-General Jaroslav Vývlek from the General Staff of the Slovak Armed Forces. Involved in the exercise at the national level, apart from the Defence Ministry, were the Interior Ministry, Foreign Ministry, Government Office and other institutions responsible for national security.
