Slovak tennis player Dominika Cibulková is continuing her best performance ever at Wimbledon and on June 27 managed to change the course of a match with the world’s No. 1 ranked women’s player, Caroline Wozniacka. She lost the first set 1:6 but won the next two sets 7:6 and 7:5.
In the quarterfinal on June 28, Cibulková will meet the 2004 Wimbledon champion, Maria Sharapova, the Sme daily wrote.
Cibulková is only the second Slovak tennis player to make it to the quarter-finals of Wimbledon, after Daniela Hantuchová did so in 2002. Cibulková has already won £137,000 and collected 500 points in the World Tennis Association’s chart.
This is her third time in the quarterfinals of a grand slam tournament, with her best result to date being reaching the semi-finals of the Roland Garos tournament in 2009.
