Slovaks fear the rising power of oligarchs the most

MORE than half of Slovaks are worried that oligarchs will acquire an even greater influence in the country.

As many as 50.1 percent of respondents also expressed fear that they will not receive adequate health care in the future, according to the survey carried out by the MVK agency in May on a sample of 1,036 respondents.

Approximately 40 percent of respondents declared their worries about consequences of bad policies and decisions of politicians. In descending order, other cited concerns were: threat posed by Islamists (34.7 percent), significant drop in living standards (31.6 percent), incompetent government to rise from the 2016 election and loss of savings (24.9 percent) and, finally, threat posed by Russian aggression (20 percent).

The MVK agency conducted the survey between May 26-31 on a sample representative of the adult population in Slovakia in terms of various criteria such as gender, age, education, ethnicity, and differences between regions, towns and villages.
