The Opposition has announced its intention to summon an extraordinary session of Parliament dedicated to a non-confidence motion concerning Speaker of Parliament Pavol Paška (Smer-SD).

It plans to do so because the speaker allegedly usurped parliament’s authority by submitting two versions of the recent social insurance amendments to President Ivan Gašparovič.

While speaking to the TASR newswire on November 6, Smer spokesperson Katarína Kližanová Rýsová called the move “ridiculous”.

"Paška… submitted the amendment to the Act on Social Insurance in the form it was approved by Parliament to the president," she said.

The extraordinary session might take place this month. TASR
