FOREIGN Minister Ján Kubiš has chosen a unique way to get politically nominated Slovak ambassadors abroad to leave their posts: The minister sent a letter to all ambassadors stating that by November, those who feel they were political nominees should contact the ministry.
According to the Sme daily, the letters were issued to the nominees of the former ruling Hungarian Coalition Party (SMK) and the Christian Democrats (KDH).
The ambassadors include Viktor Bauer (Turkey), Štefan Schill (Switzerland), Alojz Mészáros (Sweden), Dagmar Babčanová (the Vatican) and Ján Baňás (Croatia).
According to former Foreign Minister Eduard Kukan, if Kubiš wanted to make any changes he should have "assumed responsibility" and recalled the ambassadors himself.
