Marián Andel, Parliamentary Vice-Chairman and a founding father of the far-right Slovak National Party (SNS), announced on November 19 that he would not willingly vacate his seat in the parliament. However, he said that if he were voted out, he would respect the decision and leave.

Andel's own SNS party has been trying to remove him for the past two months in favour of former Education Minister Eva Slavkovská. Andel said that the campaign against him was unjust and not truly representative of SNS supporters, as those demanding his departure are relatively new members to the party.

"It is possible that some people do not like me because of my lack of aggression and non-confrontational tone," he said. "I was even criticised for sitting next to [Hungarian coalition boss] Béla Bugár."
