Sony bought a 40-hectare plot and wants to start building the new plant in December. The town has already issued a land planning decision while a construction permit should be granted in the next couple of days.

Sony Slovakia director Ushida Hajime said that the company has already launched the recruitment of white collar staff and that it will begin looking for workers next spring. He added that Sony's strategy is to have as many local managers as possible.

Sony plans to invest almost €73 million (Sk2.6 billion) in the plant and expects to employ 3,000 people, of which 1,500 should arrive from the Sony plant in Trnava, which the company will close down.
