Slovakia's natural gas distributor, SPP, is baffled by a decision from the Office for the Regulation of Network Industries (ÚRSO) on August 26 that rejected its request for an 15.9-percent increase in household gas prices as of Oct. 1.
ÚRSO explained that the submitted documents were insufficient to justify the increase.
But in a statement to TASR, SPP wrote it had delivered the regulatory authority all documents required for its decision on the request, coupled with a declaration by an independent auditor who confirmed the accuracy of SPP's calculation.
According to the gas utility, crude oil prices have hit an all-time high of $150 per barrel, which is far above ÚRSO’s estimate of $78 per barrel based on which household prices were set for 2008.
