Elections to the legislative bodies from 1920-2006 in what is now known as Slovakia are presented in a publication released by the Slovak Statistics Office on October 6.

"This book goes beyond the traditions of the Statistics Office, as it usually doesn't publish any books on elections," said Statistics Office chair Ľudmila Benkovičová at the publication’s launch ceremony.

According to Benkovičová, the book shows common statistics as well as the legal framework of elections since 1920.

"Out of the total number, eleven elections could be described as free, while nine were not," said Vladimír Krivý, one of the publication's authors.
