STUDENTS from 17 Slovak cities and towns were invited to release thousands of bubbles on August 25 for the Bubble Day event. The goal was to brighten the day for people in the streets, the organisers informed, adding that anyone, be it a child or an adult with a bubble blower, was encouraged to participate.
“We continue to spread the positive mood and original ideas across Slovakia,” the project’s coordinator, Jaroslav Dodok, told the SITA newswire. “People say that everyone is a small child, in a way, for the rest of his life. We want to symbolically return to childhood in this way. It does not matter whether you are 10, 30 or 60. You can stop for a while, forget the hustle and bustle and enjoy the moment.”
In some cities there was also an accompanying programme: in Mariánske Square in Žilina, professional bubble-maker Matěj Kodeš entertained people, while in Banská Bystrica, juggler and guitar player Jozef Mlynárik performed.
Bubble Day, or Deň Bublín in Slovak, came into being as a continuation of the Hug Day project, through which almost 80,000 “free hugs” were exchanged earlier this year. The cities that participated in Bubble Day included Žilina, Banská Bystrica, Zvolen, Rimavská Sobota, Prešov, Košice and Poprad.
