The general director of the public service Slovak Television (STV), Richard Rybníček, halted the broadcast of anti-discrimination spots because he disliked references to homosexuals, the daily Národná obroda wrote.

He admitted that as a person of Christian faith, he does object to the expressions of homosexual behaviour in the spots, which are part of a governmental anti-discrimination campaign.

Rybníček argued that the spots are not of an informative character, but rather are propagandistic.

When responding to Rybníček's move, Smer deputy Dušan Čaplovič suggested that Rybníček is closely associated with the Christian Democratic Movement.
