Survey finds Bratislavans often use social networks

Social networks in Slovakia are used mostly by residents of Bratislava Region, as 58 percent of people in this region have created such an account and more than 25 percent visit a social site daily, according to a survey conducted by the Focus polling agency on behalf of the Institute for Public Affairs (IVO), the TASR newswire reported. Above-average use was also recorded in Košice and Prešov regions (57 percent), with residents of other regions being in the neighbourhood of 54 percent, even though Trnava Region reported only 46 percent, TASR wrote.

Although of 21 percent of Slovaks visit a social network every day an equal number of persons, mostly pensioners, never do so. TASR also wrote that there was a relative lack of participation by households with a monthly income under €700 and by people with lower levels of education.

The survey involved a representative sample of 1,135 Slovaks age 14 years and older.
