The story about Prime Minister Robert Fico’s vineyard did not resonate with voters as much as the Slovak Democratic and Christian Union (SDKÚ) had hoped, according to the Sme daily on December 27.
A survey, which the MVK polling agency conducted for the daily, shows that the story dimmed only 20 percent of people’s opinion of Fico. On the other hand, as many as 43 percent said it had worsened their opinion of Dzurinda.
Sociologist Pavel Haulík says that Dzurinda picked a weak topic to attack Fico on, and the SDKÚ should consider whether Dzurinda should be replaced as its leader.
