Teachers across Slovakia went on strike yesterday afternoon in protest at a lack of funding in the education sector. However, some teachers criticised their union, because the strike took place after most lessons had finished for the day, so the strike was only symbolic.
"We should have been here since the morning. Starting at 14:00 is meaningless," said one teacher at a protest rally in Bratislava, where thousands of teachers gathered.
The teaching unions have warned that they will cause further disruption if their demands are not met.
