On March 1, 1995, the inaugural issue of The Slovak Spectator sneaked off the presses. There was no press conference, no advertising campaign. There was no energy reserved for any of that. Instead, the seven souls who put out that first issue wearily swilled a beer or three and collapsed for their first decent night's sleep in weeks. Then they woke up to work on issue #2.
Back then, we allowed ourselves no chest-thumping. So please excuse us now as we take the opportunity of our fifth anniversary to open the window into our 'kitchen', and to reflect on some of the top stories of the past half-decade.
