The focus of an international photography competition for young people aged 14 to 19, called Pristihnutí pri čítaní / Caught Reading, is to photograph Slovaks and Poles reading in public spaces. The competition, with a September 20 deadline, is being organised by the Regional Library in Žilina and the Ksianzica Beskidzka in Bialsko-Biala.
The coordinator of cultural and educational activities in the Žilina library, Jana Štefancová, informed the TASR newswire that the participants are encouraged to hand in 1 to 3 black-and-white or colour printed photographs sized 15 x 21 centimetres (with the consent of the parents of underage children).
The winning photographs will be presented at an exhibition that will be part of the Bielsko Festival of Slovak Culture. The winners will be awarded on October 25, in the local library in Bielsko-Biala. With more than 180,000 inhabitants, Bielsko-Biala is composed of two towns, Bielsko and Biala, and lies in the Salesian Duchy in southern Poland.
