Tipos lottery sales up 30 percent last year

SLOVAKIA's largest lottery company, Tipos, recorded an almost 30-percent growth in sales from lottery operations in 2005 to Sk3.8 billion (€101.3 million).

This means that on average, every Slovak man, woman and child spent more than Sk700 (€18.6) on various lottery games, the Hospodárske noviny wrote.

Tipos, which is owned by the Finance Ministry, paid out Sk2 billion (€53.3 million) in winnings, with the highest single prize reaching Sk90.3 million (€2.4 million).

Tipos' gross profit for the year was Sk183.9 million (€4.9 million).
