Parliamentary opposition parties the SDKÚ-DS and the KDH are asking Prime Minister Robert Fico to prevent Slovakia’s largest lottery company, Tipos, from paying Sk2 billion (€66.38 million) to a Czech businessman.
Tipos, which is a state-run lottery firm under the jurisdiction of the Finance Ministry, is to pay Sk500 million from its own sources, while the Finance Ministry is to make up the rest, after the Supreme Court decided in favour of Športka, which sold its claim in the meantime to the Czech businessmen Radovan Vitko.
Minister Počiatek explained that it was necessary to promptly resolve the situation.
"We ask the prime minister not to permit taxpayer money to be given away," said KDH leader Pavol Hrušovský after a meeting of representatives of the KDH and the SDKÚ-DS.
SDKÚ-DS leader Mikuláš Dzurinda said: "Mr. Fico is not afraid of supranational monopolies, why then is he afraid of one Czech businessmen?" SITA
