This classic Slovak-German fairytale film from 1985 was based on the Brothers Grimm story Mother Winter. Mother Winter saves little Jakubko from Death and adopts him, because she needs someone to help shake her huge eiderdown and make it snow on earth. The magical Perinbaba loves Jakubo and helps him even after he leaves her and goes off in the world, drawn by his love for the beautiful Alžbětka. But before they can get married, Jakubko and Alžbětka must suffer at the hands of a cruel stepmother, her daughter Dora, and Death, who is still following Jakubko. This Russian fairytale from 1963 is about beautiful, hard-working and well-meaning Nastenka, and about the proud but self-absorbed Ivan. It is the story of a love that overcomes all earthly barriers. Their love also survives an evil stepmother as well as the power and magical strength of Father Frost himself. This Czech-German fairytale film from director Václav Vorlíček in 1973 is based on the fairytale by Božena Němcová. It tells the story of Cinderella, oppressed by a wicked stepmother and her two daughters, who among other things try to prevent Cinderella from attending the ball where the prince is supposed to choose a bride.
