FORMER high standing Coca-Cola manager Ivan Štefanec and the country's former primary EU negotiator, Ján Figeľ, are the two official candidates for the job of EU commissioner for Slovakia.
Štefanec and Figeľ are nominees of the Slovak Democratic and Christian Union and the Christian Democrats, respectively.
The other ruling parties have yet to find their candidates, the Slovak daily SME reported on November 26.
The coalition will have to pick one name, and the new commissioners from the ten acceding member states will begin their jobs on May 1, 2004, when the entry of new members is planned.
