TO RAISE awareness of British products in the agriculture and food and drink sectors in Slovakia, the UK Embassy to Slovakia is bringing its “Food is GREAT” campaign to this year’s Agrokomplex in Nitra, the UK Embassy informed The Slovak Spectator.
The embassy sees Agrokomplex, the biggest annual food and agriculture fair in Slovakia, as an opportunity for British companies to promote the UK’s business environment, talent, infrastructure, R&D and adventurous consumers among international food and drink companies looking for low-risk opportunities to expand their businesses and profits.
There will be five companies present at the British Embassy stand, including well-known and established British retailers Tesco and Marks & Spencer, as well as the Beer Tradition importer of British beer. An additional 35 companies will be represented via samples and product brochures.
Food and drink represents the largest manufacturing sector in the UK, employing more than 500,000 people. Even in the current economic downturn, food and drink exports continue to grow each year. The main recipients of UK food and drink exports continue to be mature markets such as the USA, Canada and the EU.
The UK is participating at Agrokomplex within its The GREAT Britain marketing campaign, launched in February 2012. Its aim is to support trade, tourism, education and investments.
In Slovakia there will be two projects within this campaign, the second of which will be GREAT Flagship, involving a ship that will float in October from Vienna to Budapest via Bratislava to promote Great Britain.
