Even though the government disagrees with the ruling, the EC's decision – that Slovakia has to re-open competition in the field of hybrid post-services – cannot be postponed, said Vážny.

"We have to respect it. At the moment, the Slovak Post Office and the Post Regulation Office can't punish alternative operators for using the designation 'hybrid post' services," he noted.

Hybrid post is a specific form of postal services. It involves electronic invoices transferred from the sender to the provider, who prints them, collates, sorts and delivers as post. It's an important service for companies such as banks, insurance companies and telecommunication companies, because, compared to the non-electronic system, it saves time. TASR
