Following the government session in Bratislava on November 26, Transport, Posts and Telecommunications Minister Ľubomír Vážny said that the winner of the tender for the construction of new terminal at M.R. Štefánik Airport (Bratislava Airport/BTS) could be known by the end of this week.
Vážny commented that the agreement with the supplier can be signed within a week if the excluded applicants don't submit an application for revision proceedings by the end of today.
"Today is the term by which they can appeal," said the minister, adding that if the unsuccessful applicants submit the applications for revision proceedings, the whole process will be delayed by two-three weeks.
As for the new terminal, it should increase BTS’s capacity by 3.5 million passengers per year by 2010.
By 2012, the reconstruction of terminal A and its interconnection with the completion in the second phase will increase the capacity to 5 million passengers. The capacity per hour in rush hours will be increased from 920 to 1,500 processed passengers. BTS announced the tender for the construction of the new terminal in September, and three companies showed their interest: Metrostav, ZIPP Bratislava, and Trnavská Stavebná Spoločnosť (Trnava Construction Company).
