THE WERNER von Siemens Excellence Award is awarded annually by Siemens in cooperation with the Slovak Rectors' Conference to exceptional students and young researchers.
The award is intended to recognise excellent and unique results in the following categories: production, transmission and distribution of electrical power; information and communication products and networks; transport technology and drives, products, systems and devices for automation of production and processes; industrial investment devices and technical services; building technologies, services, products and solutions in the area of technological equipment for buildings; production of light sources; medical technology, devices and services in health care technology for diagnostics and therapy; and research and development in relation to protection of the environment and ecological production technologies for the electrical industry. The award for the best diploma thesis includes a financial prize of Sk80,000. The best PhD thesis will be awarded Sk120,000 and the best research project (carried out by researcher younger than 40 or by a research team with an average age of less than 40) will get Sk200,000.
