Whirlpool Europe plans to invest a further €40 million into the production of washing machines in the eastern Slovak city Poprad over the next three years, news wire TASR reported.
The Poprad plant should raise annual output up to two million units, Whirlpool Europe President Michael Todman told the press.
Investment in the plant already stands at more than Sk3 billion (around €73 million) since 1994, and production for this year is expected to be around 1.5 million units.
Commenting on the Slovak business environment, Todman said there were good conditions for foreign investors that, after the country's entry to the European Union, will further improve.
