A YOUNG Italian woman reportedly was in contact with the suspected Slovak cannibal from eastern Slovakia, Matej Čurko, who died in May after a shootout with Slovak police. The Slovak police are cooperating with their Italian counterparts, the TA3 news channel reported.
“Slovak police are communicating with their Italian colleagues,” said Denisa Balogová, the police presidium spokesperson, as quoted by the TA3, adding that due to the ongoing investigation she could not say anything more specific.
The television station also reported that Italian police have asked Slovak authorities to send DNA samples from bodies of suspected victims of Čurko that have been found in forests near the eastern Slovakian town of Kysak.
The current police investigation started after Italian media reported that Čurko could have been contacted by a 28-year-old Italian woman. The media referred to a report by Interpol, which reportedly had obtained a photograph of a third body from the Swiss man who had arranged to become the cannibal’s next victim but backed out of the arrangement and contacted Swiss police.
