NATO defence ministers meet in Brussels

THIS year’s GLOBSEC international security forum that took place in Bratislava between June 19 and 21 was the largest in the event’s history, welcoming 1,130 participants from 70 countries, including British Prime Minister David Cameron.

Nováky arms factory set to expand

THE JOINT business Czech firearms manufacturer Česká zbrojovka Uherský Brod (ČZUB) and MSM Martin in the town of Nováky, which focuses mainly on producing components for the BREN assault rifles and pistols, will keep its promise to have 200 employees this year, according to ČZUB General Director Lubomír Kovařík, the TASR newswire reported.

Purchase of US Black Hawk helicopters by Slovak army approved

SLOVAKIA’S Security Council and the government have approved a contract for procuring nine American Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk military helicopters for approximately 261 million US dollars (€236.7 million), Defence Ministry informed on April 29.
