After fellow cyclist Fabian Cancellara fell during the Paris-Roubaix cycling race on April 10, Slovak cyclist Peter Sagan jumped over the bicycle of his rival and continued the race. Later Sagan commented about it on Twitter writing that “I didnt know that I know how to fly :DI didn’t know that I know how to flyJ”.
Sagan had a similar experience earlier this year. During the Milan-San Remo race, about 400 metres before the finish, Columbian Fernando Gaviria fell down in front of him. Sagan managed to avoid him, but he lost speed. Rivals slipped away and he did not have a chance to fight for victory.
Something similar happened also at the Paris-Roubaix race when Sagan lost his shot at victory 114 kilometres before the finish, after a fall in the main group, the peleton, broke down and several favourites were not able to catch up. Sagan finished eleventh, two minutes and 20 seconds behind the race winner.
