The Kubínyi Manor in Vyšný Kubín, northern Slovakia, succeeded in a strong competition of 150 hotels and won the prestigious award of the best historic hotel in Europe in terms of design, reports the website My Orava.
The Heritage Hotels of Europe Awards are dedicated to recognising exceptional quality among historic hotels.
The public first nominates its favourites; then they are evaluated by experts taking into account guest reviews.
The jury awarded prizes in seven categories: Heritage & Design, Heritage & Wellness, Heritage & Gastronomy, Heritage & Hospitality, Heritage & Culture, Heritage & Romance and Host of the year. The Kubínyi Manor won the first category.
In addition, three other hotels in Slovakia also won other categories; the Grandhotel Starý Smokovec in the High Tatras won the wellness category, the Zámocký Hotel Galicia Nueva in Halič won the romance category, and the Palace Art Hotel in Pezinok won the special experience category.

The unique Kubínyi Mansion has won another in a series of awards. In 2021, it won the Cultural Monument of the Year Phoenix award for the exceptional act of saving a national cultural monument.
Just as the mythical Phoenix bird rises from the ashes, Kubínyi Mansion has risen in all its glory. This would not have happened without the enthusiasm and determination of Pavel Kozáčik and his family, who bought the building in 2010 and saved it from certain destruction.
The reconstruction lasted 10 years.
This extraordinary space is open to the general public, along with an English landscape park. The unique atmosphere can be experienced at dozens of events, tours and concerts held there throughout the year.
The general public can also enjoy good coffee, a stroll in the park, saunas and visit the mansion during guided tours.
Curious people and history buffs will definitely find something to their liking.
