City card allows tourists to travel via integrated transport

The Bratislava City Card's offers have been extended.

An improved tourist card called Bratislava City Card should help visitors of Slovakia’s capital city to more easily reach the most attractive spots, including museums, galleries, the zoo and cruises on the Danube River. Holders of this card can travel in Bratislava on trams, buses, trolley buses and trains operated by companies that have joined the Bratislava Integrated Transport (BID) system.

“We believe that this product will not only make transport in Bratislava more attractive but also much easier to use,” said Zuzana Horčíková of BID as cited by the TASR newswire.

There will be three types of this card available with validity of 24, 48 and 72 hours. Their price will range from €12 to €16.

“The validity will start on the day of the card's issuance,” explained Horčíková.

This system has already been in place for the public transport through Dopravný Podnik Bratislava (DPB). Transport operators Železničná Spoločnosť Slovensko (ZSSK) and Slovak Lines have now followed suit and thus broadened the options for tourists. BID is pondering extending the possibility to travel by this card within the whole area operated by the integrated transport system.

Bratislava City Card comes with a questionnaire, via which the Bratislava Tourist Board (BTB) wants to ascertain where tourists come from and which sites and places they visited.

“The aim is to send visitors to places of the highest quality of provided services,” said Alžbeta Melicharová, head of BTBs’s board.

Bratislava City Card enables tourists to get up to 50-percent discounts in selected establishments, free sightseeing tours of Bratislava and unlimited travel on the public transport network. The card is available at tourist information centres, some hotels and travel agencies around Bratislava.
