The Centre of Traditional Culture in Myjava (Trenčín Region) is trying to preserve the traditions of families manufacturing mill sacks. To do so, it organises the annual pre-Christmas workshop at which children learning to make traditional “hrtánky”.
Hrtánky is a pasta prepared from egg and flour, whose form recalls poultry larynx. It is shaped by a stick on a special creped pad produced in the past from damaged loom parts. The pasta is then cooked in turkey soup and served only during Christmas, the Sme.sk website reported.
