The new 'Sauna by the Slovak Sea' opened in the Medvedia hora summer resort on the banks of the Zemplínska Šírava water reservoir in eastern Slovakia.
The Finnish sauna with a panoramic glass window offers a view of the reservoir. The new attraction should help attract tourists to the region even outside the summer season.

The sauna is located near a small hotel. Since it is heated only by a wood stove, it is ecological and energy independent. After the sauna experience, visitors can cool down in Zemplínska Šírava. They can then languish in a relaxation area with two wooden deckchairs.
The Košice Region (KSK) supported the project through the Terra Incognita project in the amount of €38,000.
"Šírava has great tourist potential and I'm convinced that it is small projects and bright local individuals that will bring new ideas for discovering local treasures," said KSK Governor Rastislav Trnka, as quoted by the TASR news agency.
The sauna is open at the same time as the nearby hotel. It's open to hotel guests, as well as sauna enthusiasts who don't plan to stay at the hotel. The sauna can be rented as a whole, either for an individual or for groups of six to eight people.
