THE FOUNDERS of the 'Siet' party, including presidential candidate Radoslav Procházka and the mayor of the city of Martin, Andrej Hrnčiar, will remain MPs until the inauguration of the new president Andrej Kiska, which will take place on Sunday (June 15).
"It's very important for us to be at the inauguration of the new president, and there's no other way to get there, only as MPs. We'll deal with everything else after June 15," said Hrnčiar as quoted by the TASR newswire.
The two MPs had announced earlier that they would give up their mandates as MPs after the May parliamentary session. The session ended on Thursday, June 12, in the afternoon. Procházka defended his decision to leave parliament by saying that he wants to garner support for "going into service" from the people through parliamentary elections "from scratch", TASR wrote.
Procházka made it to parliament on the slate of the Christian Democrats (KDH) in 2012. When he gives up his seat, he'll be replaced by former KDH MP Marian Radošovský. Hrnčiar will be replaced by Peter Voros from Most-Híd.
Meanwhile, on June 12, the Sieť party was officially registered at the Interior Ministry, the SITA newswire reported, citing the Register of Parties that the ministry runs online. Procházka and other representatives of the new party submitted the necessary documents to the ministry on May 26.
