Government passes new rules for cyanide leaching method

Up to 10,000 guests expected at SNP celebrations
AT LEAST 10,000 guests are expected to attend the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the Slovak National Uprising (SNP) at the SNP Memorial in Banská Bystrica on August 29. As many as 36 embassies have already confirmed the attendance of their representatives, including those of Saudi Arabia, Brazil and Venezuela, SNP Museum director Stanislav Mičev told the press on August 26.

Activists protest against Bioenergy burning wood for energy production
About 50 disgruntled citizens and activists from the environmental organisation VLK participated on August 26 in a protest rally in front of the energy company BIioenergy in the town of Bardejov in eastern Slovakia.
Investors to create 1,000 new jobs in Košice
One-thousand new jobs are to be created in Košice, Economy Minister Pavol Pavlis said at a news briefing in Košice on August 26. The company Howe Slovensko is to open some 600 positions and the limited liability company Airberlin Technik Slovakia is to gradually create 400 new jobs on the premises of the Košice airport. The investors are currently negotiating the provision of investment stimuli with the ministry.
