14th century sword found at Pustý Castle
A PERFECTLY preserved 14th century single-edged sword with a wooden handle has been found in a medieval cistern during an archaeological dig at Pustý (meaning Deserted) Castle near Zvolen in Banská Bystrica region.

Hikers must pay big money to climb Gerlach
GROUPS of three hikers need to pay a total of around €200 to get to the top of Slovakia’s highest mountain, Gerlach, in the High Tatra mountains because they are not allowed to do this without a mountain guide, the Sme daily reported on July 23.
