The Slovak air company Danube Wings flew a total of 122,791 passengers last year, which was 65.5 percent, or 48,580 more people when compared with 2011. Danube Wings acquired a new plane and also new regular flights last year, the SITA newswire wrote on Tuesday, January 8
“Although the crisis of Slovak air transport is evident, Danube Wings has had a successful year,” CEO of the air carrier Ján Rostáš said. “Our fleet expanded, mainly due to new foreign contracts,” adding that most of the lines that were launched last year will continue this year.
One Danube Wings aircraft flew with Slovak pilots, stewards and supervision on two regular flights in Sweden: Gällivare to Kramfors and Kramfors to Stockholm/Arlanda. Another one operated several lines from Dole, France, and the remaining two aircrafts served regular Slovak flights from Bratislava to Košice, Split and Zadar; and from Košice to Rijeka, as well as charter flights, mainly from Italy and Germany. At the end of 2012, a regular line from the Czech city Ostrava to Vienna was established. Since January 7, the only domestic line, Bratislava-Košice, will be increased to two times daily in both directions; and from January 14 on, the Ostrava-Vienna line will also be boosted.
