BY THE end of 2009 there were around 15,300 foreigners working legally in Slovakia, according to the Centre of Labour, Social Affairs and Family, the SITA newswire reported.
The biggest group was from Romania, with 2,400 Romanian citizens working in Slovakia. The Czech Republic has the second biggest representation with 2,300 employees here. Hungary had approximately 1,400 citizens working in Slovakia, followed closely by Poland with 1,300 legal workers in the country. Ukraine had the fifth largest representation, with 944.
Bratislava had the highest volume of foreign workers in Slovakia as one-third of all foreigners were working there. There were almost 5,400 foreigners employed in the Slovak capital. No foreign workers were registered as working in the Stropkov and Gelnica districts at the end of 2009.
