Slovakia's gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 6.2% annually in real terms in the first quarter of 1998 (1Q98), down from a 6.4% rate in the same period last year, the Slovak Statistical Office (ŠÚSR) said on June 18. The ŠÚSR added that real wages grew by 2.9% over the 1Q98, a drastic drop compared to 8.1% from the same period last year. GDP grew by 6.5% last year.
