2003 Sales of Wienerberger Slovenské Tehelne up 18 percent

CONSTRUCTION materials producer Wienerberger Slovenské Tehelne reported sales at Sk1.06 billion (€39.29 million) last year, up more than 18 percent from 2002. The company's representatives ascribe the sales increase to the growing demand for bricks in housing construction.

"The company sold almost 500,000 cubic metres of bricks last year, the volume necessary for the construction of about 7,000 family houses of average size, said the company's authorised representative, Bohuslav Placko.Wienerberger Slovenské Tehelne registers the highest demand in its products from Bratislava and western and northern Slovakia. Construction activity eastwards has decreased, said Placko.

In 2003 the company invested over Sk15 million (€368.3 million) in order to cover the capacity of the growing local market and improve the quality of the production process in its two plants in Boleráz and Zlaté Moravce.
