OVER 40 kilometres of highway and dual carriageway stretches which started in 2008 have been completed at a cost of €101.04 million, and 21.1 kilometres of highways and dual carriageways worth €84.51 million are now open to traffic, the government plenipotentiary for highways and dual carriageways and director of the National Highway Company (NDS) Igor Choma stated, the SITA newswire reported.
After adjustments, the NDS had at its disposal €346.61 million from the state budget and EU funds in 2008. Including its own sources, the NDS was working with a total of €469.03 million.
“The overall costs of the planned investments represented Sk14.652 billion (€486.36 million),” the NDS stated.
The funds from the state budget for construction of highways and dual carriageways were drawn down by 99.99 percent.
Other sources continue to be used for construction work that were started before 2008 and were not completed by the end of last year.
