BRATISLAVA airport is continuing talks with several airlines operating from Bratislava regarding the possible takeover of what were previously routes covered by SkyEurope Airlines.
“It is necessary to show the power of the market and the willingness to fly,” a representative of Bratislava Airport told the SITA newswire. “Air transport is a public service, and therefore it is important that the public shows its interest in flying.”
The final version of the flight schedule is expected to be ready by October 24 but the airport has already announced that subsequent changes could be made depending on the decisions of the airlines.
The new schedule will include regular routes to Brussels and Warsaw through Danube Wings. Ryanair will introduce new routes to Liverpool, Rome (Ciampino) and Beauvais, near Paris and Wizz Air has already launched its route to Rome (Fiumicino).
Destinations previously covered by SkyEurope but which currently have no routes to Bratislava are Istanbul, Copenhagen and Manchester. However, newly-introduced routes connecting Bratislava with Alicante, Basel, Bologna, Brussels-Charleroi, Weeze-Düsseldorf, Girona and Poprad-Tatry will continue.
