THE CENTRAL European investment group Penta is selling Alpha Medical, a company providing medical laboratory services in Slovakia, Czech Republic and Poland, to Mid Europa Partners. The deal, whose value was not revealed, is still subject to approval by antitrust offices in individual countries, the SITA newswire informed.
“Alpha Medical is a very successful company based on good foundations,” Eduard Maták, the Penta partner responsible for health projects, said as quoted by SITA. “We have created from a local player with sales of €2 million an international group with sales of €65 million. After six years Alpha Medical is a ripe investment in our portfolio.”
Over the last five years Penta Medical has extended its scope of operations from Slovakia into the Polish and Czech markets. Together it operates 57 labs, which carried out 25 million tests for 5 million patients last year. The network consists of lab centres and smaller satellite labs.
