Antimonopoly Office examines repair shops

THE ANTIMONOPOLY Office (PMÚ) launched five independent examinations of agreements which could restrict competition in the provision of after-sale services related to the sale of motor vehicles.

It suspects that individual businesses may have committed a punishable offense by concluding vertical agreements reserving repairs and maintenance of motor vehicles to members of authorised networks. The repair shops allegedly tried to restrict the competition by conditioning the validity of guarantee with the pledge that the repairs will be done only in repair shops that are part of these networks, the TASR newswire reported.

The launch of examinations does not automatically mean that the checked subjects violated rules on competition. It also does not indicates the outcome of the whole process, said PMÚ’s spokesperson Miroslava Štrbáňová.

“PMÚ does not provide any further information in this phase,” she added, as quoted by TASR.
