THE SLOVAK Antitrust Office (PMÚ) launched proceedings on November 22 against oil refinery Slovnaft over a possible violation of competition law, the SITA news agency reported.
The PMÚ will examine the company's petrol and diesel pricing policy. "The office will examine [Slovnaft's] pricing policy since March of this year, when the amendment to the law on the protection of economic competition came into force, giving the PMÚ such powers," PMÚ spokesman Miroslav Jurkovič told the news agency.
Slovnaft spokesperson Kristína Félová said that Slovnaft would cooperate with the office and provide all necessary information.
"We believe the investigation will have a positive outcome, as Slovnaft is acting in accordance with the current laws," Félová said.
