Eurostat reports Slovakia’s 2011 deficit at 4.8 percent of GDP. Slovakia’s government closed 2011 with a deficit of 4.8 percent of GDP, according to the EU statistics office Eurostat, including loans to state-run hospitals and railway companies as part of the deficit. Without these transfers the deficit would have been 3.9 percent of GDP.
