Aqua parks in Slovakia

APART from traditional spas where people go for treatment of specific medical conditions, a number of water parks designed for fun and relaxation as well as wellness have sprung up around Slovakia over the past few years. Most of these resorts offer thermal springs and assorted water attractions as well as wellness centres and most are open year-round. Here is a sampling of the aqua parks in Slovakia:

AquaCity Poprad – This resort below the High Tatras harnesses geothermal energy to heat and power its facilities which include hotels, an aqua park, restaurant, bars, and fitness and conference facilities, making it a multi-faceted ecological holiday destination.

Aquapark Senec – This aqua park is close to Bratislava within a popular summer resort and offers a range of pools (up to 11 in the summer), toboggan runs, slides and other activities.

Aquapark Tatralandia – The biggest aqua park in Slovakia is located in Liptovský Mikuláš. It introduced several new attractions this year including the largest rafting U-ramp in Europe and a general upgrade of its services at a cost of €2.8 million. This aqua park offers 13 pools and 29 toboggans runs and slides as well as hotel accommodation within the park.

Aqua-Vital Park in Lúčky – This aqua park is part of the Lúčky Kúpele spa in north-central Slovakia. It offers two outdoor pools, one of which one offers various recreational activities while the second one has thermal mineral water. There is one indoor pool with thermal mineral water.

Meander Park Oravice – This aqua park close to the Polish border utilises local sources of thermal water for its outdoor as well as its indoor pools which, among other attractions, feature artificial waves, geysers and massage jets.

Spa&Aquapark Turčianske Teplice – This resort in central Slovakia features thermal mineral water and consists of two parts: the spa area with healing thermal water and the aqua park area with swimming, sitting pools and other water attractions.

Thermal Corvinus Veľký Meder – This aqua park in southern Slovakia offers nine pools, three of which are outdoors and five featuring toboggan runs.

Thermal Park Bešeňová – This park in northern Slovakia has 13 outdoor pools with geothermal water, three indoor pools including a swimming pool, nine toboggan runs as well as a complex with five saunas.
